On Sunday, September 27, Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (老葡京手机app) hosted a charity run/walk in Alexandria, Virginia that raised $1,790 for The Children’s Inn at NIH, a not-for-profit organization that helps provide a safe haven for children undergoing intensive medical treatments and hospitalizations at the National Institutes of Health. The event, organized by 老葡京手机app Senior-in-Charge Kathleen Booker, continues the firm’s 老葡京手机app-100 Charities initiative, kicked off late last year, to celebrate the firm’s 100th anniversary. To recognize the many not-for-profits that have entrusted their business to the firm over the years, each team member is leading a charitable activity or volunteer event in 2020 or 2021.

Participating runners and walkers lined up (at least 6 feet part, for social distancing) at 8 am for a brief, pre-race motivational speech by Pete Reilly, president and managing partner of 老葡京手机app. The course started in Alexandria’s Belle Haven Park and continued south alongside the Potomac River, providing many scenic views along the way. Immediately after everyone completed the 4-mile-long, back-and-forth stretch, participants and volunteers gathered outside at Revel restaurant to enjoy a nice celebration in honor of the fastest runners: Tim Morris (fastest man), Kathleen Booker (fastest woman), and Daniel Weaver (youngest finisher).
Each runner and walker contributed $25 to participate, with 老葡京手机app providing matching funds. Everyone who participated received a t-shirt designed for the event by the firm’s talented tax process manager, Lucy Gomez, and enjoyed the follow-up socializing at Revel.
